Chung S. Yang, Professor and Associate Chair, Rutgers' Department of Chemical Biology, serves as the Associate Director of EOHSI's NIEHS Center for Environmental Health Sciences. He is a member of the Toxicology Division. Dr. Yang is the leader of the Carcinogenesis and Prevention Program of The Cancer Institute of New Jersey. He is a member of the National Institutes of Health Metabolic Pathology Study Team and Associate Editor of the Journal, Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers and Prevention. Dr. Yang is a renowned scientist and his research interests includes: Mechanisms of carcinogenesis and its prevention including characterization of the molecular alterations during different stages of human esophageal carcinogenesis, and development of animal models for esophageal adenocarcinomas and colitis-associated colon cancer for mechanistic and prevention studies; mechanisms of inhibition of carcinogenesis by tea and its constituents including tumorigenesis studies in animal models, molecular investigation with cell lines, pharmacokinetics and bioavailability studies in animals and humans, and human intervention studies; functional studies of cytochrome P450 enzymes using site-directed mutagenesis and gene knock-out approaches; relationship between genetic polymorphisms of cytochrome P450 (and related) enzymes and cancer risk. Dr. Yang has published over 300 journal articles and books.
