Dr.
Brian Buckley is an Analytical Chemist
focused on biomonitoring of environmental
contaminants. He is a member of the graduate
faculty of both Rutgers University and UMDNJ.
Currently he specializes in spectroscopic,
mass spectrometric and chromatographic
methods development for analysis of
environmental contaminants and their
metabolites. This includes methods
development for LC and GC/ITMS, utilizing
the multiple MS capability of the instrument
for improvements in sensitivity. His
research group has focused on Microwave
Assisted Solvent Extraction (MASE), solid
phase micro extraction (SPME) and Ion Trap
Mass Spectrometric analysis techniques for
active contaminants and their metabolites.
They have used synthetic biofluid
extractions for estimating bioavailability
and human health risks of heavy metals and
metal speciation by chromatography coupled
to plasma mass spectrometryincluding Hg, As,
and Cr. His most recent work has focused on
developing metabolite profiles, storing the
profiles in a searchable database and
creating appropriate platforms for
utilization of the database. |
