Nuclear receptors, such as
estrogen receptor (ER), retinoic acid
receptor (RAR), retinoid X receptor (RXR),
vitamin D receptor (VDR), peroxisome
proliferator activated receptors (PPARs),
are the transcription factors that interact
directly with DNA and modulate transcription
of many genes involved in carcinogenesis.
Ligands for these nuclear receptors have a
potential to be pharmacologically powerful
and interesting agents for the treatment and
prevention of cancer. Our research interests
include in vitro mechanistic study of action
of the ligands for nuclear receptors in
cancer cells as well as in preclinical
evaluation of these agents in animal models. |
