Dr. Barbara Turpin is an Aerosol Scientist conducting research concerning exposure to airborne particulate matter (PM), measurement of particulate organics, and atmospheric organic chemistry. She is a member of the graduate faculty of Rutgers University (Environmental Sciences and Atmospheric Sciences). She is a member of EOHSI, the NIEHS Center of Excellence, and Rutgers Cooperative Extension. She is currently conducting research concerning human exposure to PM2.5 of outdoor origin with implications to exposure science and PM epidemiology, and secondary organic aerosol formation, especially formation through cloud processing.
She has considerable expertise characterizing physical and chemical properties of organic aerosols and aerosol measurement. She also works collaboratively to study the health effects of PM. Dr. Turpin teaches Physical Principles of Environmental Sciences to environmental science, bioenvironmental engineering, and meteorology undergraduates. She teaches design of air pollution control equipment to graduate students in environmental sciences and senior undergraduate engineers. She serves on the New Brunswick Faculty Council for Rutgers University. |
